Dr. Margaret Ray, is Professor of Economics and Director of the University of Mary Washington Center for Economic Education. She was a visiting research scientist at the RTIP. She received her doctorate in economics from the University of Tennessee. Her dissertation was on the economics of the horse breeding industry. She has published numerous articles on the horse breeding and race track industries. At the 2000 Symposium on Racing, Dr. Ray presented her popular computer program for estimating a race track’s economic impact as part of the panel, “Racing’s Economics.”
