Each semester, the RTIP brings guest lectures into the classroom to provide the students with first hand knowledge of all aspects of the racing industry. Outside speakers bring classroom curriculum to life and allow students to evaluate real-life scenarios and consult industry leaders about their professional experiences. Recent speakers have included NTRA President & CEO Alex Waldrop, prominent Thoroughbred owner Mike Pegram, NYRA Director of Communications Dan Silver, and even a presentation via Skype from Paul Cross, the International Wagering Manager for Tabcorp Holdings in Australia!
More often than not, guest lecturers also spend time outside of their designated class session and meet with students in the RTIP office or over lunch, a perfect time for students to connect with the movers and shakers of the racing industry.
